Age 76, passed away Monday evening, March 20, 2023. Mary was born in Battle Creek on May 7, 1946, the daughter of Lloyd and Francis (Thorp) Fish. On April 11, 1965, during the Palm Sunday tornadoes, she married Lester Tefft who preceded her in death in 2019. They were wed at the Factoryville Bible Church, a place she held close to her heart. She was very dedicated to the Colon Grange #215. Mary worked the Premium Office for many years at the St. Joseph County Fair. She and Lester enjoyed travelling and spending winters in Texas. Mary was a simple person who saw nothing more important in life than raising her family. She provided a loving and caring environment for them and she will be sorely missed. Mary is survived by her children, Todd (Susan) Tefft of Hicksville, OH, Toby (Eryn) Tefft of Colon, Maryruth (Eric) Burger of Colon; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Nancy Guthrie; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Besides her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, David Fish; a sister, Judith Robbins.
