Age 62, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, May 18, 2022. Mary was born in Memphis, TN, on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1959, the daughter of North and Mary (Sutherland) Townes. She was married to Harpreet “Happy” Kaleka who preceded her in death. Mary was a passionate cook. Mary loved to entertain and spend time with her family. She took everyone in and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a woman of God who trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for her salvation and was a member of Rock of Ages Church in Kalamazoo. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed. Mary is survived by her sons, Carl (Angelisa) Mayfield of Kalamazoo, Brian (Kendra) Fogleman of Kalamazoo, Kenny Valentine of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Demetrius Gulley, Markqes Branch, Daqwan Branch, Tru Branch, Akiem Mayfield, Kenny Valentine Jr. and Key’lanni Valentine; a host of great-grandchildren; brother, James Townes; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Michelle Branch; granddaughter, Quionna Branch; brothers, John Townes, North “June” Townes Jr., Bennie Townes; sisters, Martha Powell, Sarah Townes, and Louise “Mickey” Monger.
