Maudie Eunice Jean DeHollander, age 93, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on June 21, 2026. She was born in Kalamazoo on September 18, 1932, the daughter of the late Willis and Leatha (Holt) Irvine. Maudie was a kind, gentle and loving woman. She had a quiet strength which brought comfort and confidence to others. To know her was to love her and she will be deeply missed. On June 19, 1954, she married the love of her life Raymond DeHollander. They settled in Kalamazoo and began a family. Maudie worked hard at home caring for her children and the door was always open to friends or those in need. She was a wonderful baker or could often be found working on her latest cross stitch, sewing, or crochet project. Her heart extended to animals and to children; both found love and care in her presence. She enjoyed being outdoors working in the garden or taking an afternoon stroll. Maudie loved playing golf and was in a women’s league at Crestview Golf Course and would spend winter months playing in Florida. Her heart revolved around her children, though she suffered the loss of two sons, she continued living life to the fullest and loving others. She became a “mom” to many and will be remembered fondly by all. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan DeHollander; sister-in-law, Anne Irving; niece, Sarah (Brad) Gordon; nephew, Aaron Irvine; “grand dogs”; many more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Raymond; sons, Dennis and Tim and brother, Ray Irvine.
