A memorial service to celebrate Tom’s life and honor his faith will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM at 14th Street Christian Reformed Church, 14 West 14th St., Holland, MI 49423, with Pastor Benj Petroelje officiating. Private interment will take place at Genessee Prairie Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be given to the Pine Rest Foundation, PO Box 165 Grand Rapids, MI 49501.

Age 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. Tom was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on December 7, 1954, the son of James and Janet (Buursma) Polet. His family immigrated to Holland, Michigan in 1958. Tom worked in quality management and property management over the years and was also a licensed general contractor. He enjoyed playing golf and ping pong, woodworking and was an avid reader. Tom was also actively involved in the recovery community. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw. On April 16, 2011, Tom married the former Jodi (Goodrich) Gowen, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer (Brad Myers) Polet, Karen (Brian) Doory, Deborah Polet and Emily Monterosso; grandchildren, Makenna, Grant and Annika Myers, Grace and Alden Doory, Julia Polet and Elisabeth Hayden; father, James Polet; mother in-law, Donna Goodrich; siblings, Joanne (Fred) Spoelstra, Ingrid (Phil) Klaasen, Brian (Sandy) Polet, Jeff (Yolanda) Polet and David (Paige Hawkins) Polet; sister in-law, Pam (Mark) Visser and several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Polet and father in-law, Ronald Goodrich.
