Michael James Snell, of Portage, passed away at Corwell Health Butterworth Hospital Grand Rapids on April 21, 2026. He was born in Allegan, MI, on August 16, 1942, and became the loved son of Robert and Marie (Weststrate) Snell. Mike grew up in the Kalamazoo area and graduated from Portage High School Class of 1960. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served our country with honor. After being discharged, he returned to make Southwest Michigan his home. In 1963, he married Janice (Warwick) Snell. Mike worked hard as a truck driver until retiring in 1994. In his free time, he coached little league and enjoyed playing golf with his friends at various courses. He enjoyed traveling to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and also looked forward to spending the winter months in Sun City, AZ. Above all Mike loved his family and was especially proud of his children. His smile, laughter, and sense of humor will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, and daughter, Tracy Snell (Kaare Wieneke). He was preceded in passing by his parents and son, Brian Snell.
