Age 72, passed away in Kalamazoo, MI, on October 3, 2022. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 3, 1950, the son of the late Mitchell and Kristina (Janos) Makos. From a young age he had a passion for music. He always loved rock n’ roll from the 50’s and 60’s, experienced many of the legendary artists of those times live in concert. He would eventually become the lead singer of his own band and a member of the musician’s union. Mitch was also a railroad enthusiast and was a wealth of knowledge on the subject. In 1980 he moved from Chicago to Michigan where he lived out his remaining days. Mitch was a free spirit who loved life. He is survived by two siblings, Stefanie (Thomas) Teeling and Richard (Jennifer Aldridge) Makos; nieces and nephews, Clare Teeling, Thomas Teeling Jr. Richard (Priscilla) Makos Jr. and Scott Makos. He was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Jennifer “Whispering Wind Bear Spirit” Makos. Cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest in Chicago at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, c/o the funeral home.
