Nicole R. Radke, age 50, of Schoolcraft, MI, passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on November 12, 1975, the daughter of Gary and
Kathy (Meyle) Wood.

Though her time here was far too short, Nicole lived fully, fiercely, and with a spirit that could never be forgotten. She filled her life with laughter, adventure, and deep love for the people around her. Nicole was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She had a vibrant personality, a quick wit, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. Her spunky nature, unforgettable laugh, and unapologetic honesty were all part of what made her so deeply loved by those closest to her.

Nicole’s compassion and grace made her an extraordinary nurse. She graduated from Schoolcraft High School in 1993, earned her LPN from Southwestern Michigan College in 1998, and later received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan in 2007. In 2010, she received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, a prestigious recognition honoring nurses who provide exceptional care and compassion to families.

Outside of work, Nicole found peace and joy in the outdoors. She was an experienced hiker who traveled to Glacier National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Zion National Park, and many other parks and trails throughout her life. She also had a passion for learning and was an avid reader, becoming a familiar and cherished face at the Schoolcraft Library.

Above all else, Nicole loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world and the greatest joy of her life. She treasured every milestone, every laugh, every moment spent together, and surrounded those she loved with unwavering support and affection. Her legacy will live on through the love she gave so freely and the memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.

Nicole’s kind smile, warm hugs, comforting words, and infectious sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

On June 18, 2011, she married Gabriel Radke, who survives. Also surviving are her loving children, Morgan (Andrew) Livernois, Shelby (Riley) Piper, Caden (Grace) Sukich, and Ella Radke; grandchildren, Adalyn and Colter Livernois, and Ava Sukich; parents, Gary and Kathy Wood; sister, Natalie Wood Bailey; extended family, Allison and Jacob Bailey, Michele and George Radke, Josh and Erin Radke, Daisy (Andy) Hartman, Alison and Julia Radke; along with many friends, coworkers, neighbors, and loved ones whose lives she touched.
