Age 75, passed away on October 30, 2022, at Sojourner Place in Kalamazoo. She was born in Tyler, TX on December 12, 1946, the daughter of the late Nelson Ray Phipps Sr. and Clyde Corinne (Gray) Phipps. At a young age Patricia was a classic military brat living throughout the world including Germany and Japan; eventually her family moved to Springfield, MI. She graduated from Springfield High School, attended Michigan State University, Lansing Community College and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Spring Arbor University, graduating with Summa Cum Lauda honors. She went on to become a dedicated worker for the AT&T Family which included Michigan Bell, AT&T, Lucent and Avaya. After twenty-four years and several earned awards and accolades, Patricia retired to a quiet life enjoying her family.  Patricia loved reading, drawing, painting and English history. She was an avid PBS watcher and enjoyed murder mysteries, especially Agatha Christie. Patricia also gave of her time to help others and she enjoyed helping children, volunteering at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. Her warm smile and jovial laughter will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by three children, Conan, Nathan and Matthew Venus; four grandchildren, Olivia, Benjamin, Alexander and Milliegha Venus; three siblings, Ambika Kellems, Beckey Phipps and William Phipps; many friends and her beloved cat “Kit-Kat”. She was also preceded in passing by her eldest brother, Nelson Ray Phipps, Jr.
