I was saddened to read of Pat’s death and what must-have-been a very difficult illness. I first knew Pat, I believe, during the 1977-78 school year when we were both employed at VBISD. He served Mattawan Sch. District. We were both young, but I remember admiring his sincerity, commitment, kindness, wisdom, and competence. I often thought of him during years that followed and the wonderful example he had set. I missed not having him in “my world”. My sincere condolences to his family.

We are very saddened to hear of Pat's passing. We have enjoyed our occasional neighborhood interchanges over our many years on the Hill....the result of many walks through the 'hood. Though we could see that Pat's health created struggles for him, it was never reflected in his demeanor....always pleasant and positive. We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to Fran and the entire Rooney family. God bless you all, and Godspeed to Pat on his next leg of the journey.

Pat was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor and a real gift for story-telling. We was an intelligent and thoughtful person, well informed in so many areas. I enjoyed working with him and will miss him greatly. Scott Peterson
