A service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church, 9316 Oakland Dr., Portage, MI 49024, beginning at 11:30 AM; with Pastor Bill Fernhout officiating. Interment will be at Portage South Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Joldersma and Klein Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvinist Cadet Corps, Camp Geneva or a charity of one’s choice, c/o the funeral home.

Age 80, passed away at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Paul was born in Kalamazoo on December 30, 1938, the son of the late Ben and Mary (Van Dyk) VanDerKlok. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School. Paul was employed by the Upjohn Company for 37 years and was awarded the Upjohn Award in 1988. After retiring in 1994, Paul went on to work for Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. He was a long-time member of Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and Cadet counselor. On January 22, 1958, Paul was united in marriage to the former Norene C. Visscher, who preceded him in death on August 3, 2018. He is survived by his children, David (Sandi) VanDerKlok and Pamela VanDerKlok; grandchildren, Jessica and Jason VanDerKlok; sisters, Marilyn VanDerKooy and Judy Koning; brother in-law, Fred Ritsema; sisters in-law, Garilyn (Duane) Bogard and Dini Visscher; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Ritsema and brothers in-law, Calvin VanDerKooy and Ron Koning.
