Peggy lived with Schizophrenia for over 40 years and in lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks that you honor her memory by a memorial gift made to  Memorial Fund for Peggy Irene Hemenway at the Department of Psychiatry at WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. Peggy Irene Hemenway, age 73, of Kalamazoo passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021. Peggy was born in Kalamazoo, to Fredrick and Ardith June (Felthoff) Rice, who preceded her in death.  On August 28, 1971, she married Neal Hemenway who survives her.  She went to Edison Elementary School, then on to South Jr. High, Central High School, and then Loy Norrix. She enjoyed sewing.  Peggy loved ice skating, roller skating, fashion and she was a very sweet, soft spoken and beautiful young woman. She was a devout Christian. More than anything she loved being with her friends and her loving family, who include her husband; her daughters, Torrie and Robin; her siblings, Fredrick (Norma) Rice, Bradley (Valerie) Rice, Dennis (Mary Pratt) Rice, LaNita (Chris) Wolfe, Leslie (Mary) Rice; a brother in law, Richard Gross, a sister in law, Denise Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Gross and a brother, Gary Rice.
