Age 88, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018. Peter was born in Kalamazoo Oct. 28, 1929, the son of Henry & Nellie (Emaar) Van Tuyl. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Mr. Van Tuyl was previously employed by Miller Lumber Co., then Lam Fab, Inc. of Battle Creek, and retired from Woodsmith, Inc. On May 29, 1957, he married Nellie Westrate, who preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2007. Surviving are three children and spouses, Henry & Dorothy Van Tuyl, Mary & Dan Klaasen, and David Van Tuyl; five grandchildren, Sharon (Joshua) Johnson, Mark (Danielle) Van Tuyl, Samuel an Amanda Klaasen and Sydni Van Tuyl; sister, Wilma DeVries; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his brother, David Van Tuyl and sisters, Cornelia “Corky” Kubbard, Ruth Scheurwater and Martha Woods.
