Age 68, passed away on his birthday, December 16, 2023. Pete was a December baby, born in Kalamazoo in 1955, and was a very inquisitive little boy.  His curiosity continued throughout his life.  He liked big things – big trucks, big trains, big ships and big planes.  He was a gentle giant himself at 6’ 7” who loved to wave at and ‘high-five’ the children at Church.  He was generous and kind and would often mow the neighbors’ lawns and snowplow their driveways in the winter.

He married Lois Ann Morlock McCouch  and enjoyed traveling with her – now twenty years.  They traveled by plane to Las Vegas, Disney World Florida and even to Hawaii for a five-day cruise around the Islands.  He took a train ride with his cousin Emma Powell through Chicago to St. Louis and, took road trips with Lois to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan visiting Picture Rocks and taking glass-bottom boat rides in Lake Superior. They enjoyed visiting Avery Studios, the rudder of the Edmond Fitzgerald at Whitefish Point and the Shipwreck Museum in Alpena. They traveled several times to Mackinac Island where Pete drove a horse  & buggy for a tour of the Island.

Pete was enamored with planes & knew which engines went with each plane.  He completed ground school for flight training and the instructor even let him take control of the plane for a while on his graduation celebration flight.  He was so afraid his knuckles were white as he gripped the controls and stared straight ahead!

Now, he is on his journey into the arms of Jesus.  He will rest near his mother’s and grandmother’s grave sites, Bernice Sutton Jones and Ollie White, at Riverside Cemetery.
