A Service in Witness to Phyllis’s life and faith will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 S. Wilmott St, Otsego. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Phyllis will be laid to rest next to Bill at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South. Memorial contributions may be made to Time of Grace or Peace Lutheran Church, in c/o the funeral home.   Jesus said, “I AM the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

Age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, September 9, 2022. Phyllis was born in Kalamazoo, on September 5, 1939, the daughter of Eric John and Esther Margaret (Roekle) Puschel. On March 14, 1959, she married William “Bill” Curtis who preceded her in death in 2010. Phyllis was a person of faith and she took time everyday to speak with God. She mentioned all her loved ones by name in prayer. She loved crafts including sewing, crocheting, knitting and cross stitching. She shared that love with her kids and grandkids. Phyllis was an avid reader and she loved games shows, puzzles and playing cards.  Phyllis is survived by her children, Jim (Rebecca) Curtis, Janet (Steve) Edlund, Brian (Kristi) Curtis, Mike Curtis, Patti (Calvin) Slager; grandchildren, Maggie Curtis, Emma Curtis, James Curtis II, Molly Curtis, Jacob Curtis, Joshua (Lacie) Edlund, Erika Edlund, Justin Curtis, Elizabeth Curtis, Nora Curtis, Esther Curtis, Aaron (Maggie) Curtis, Ben Slager; great-grandchildren, Joanna Jousma and Tobias Curtis; siblings, Molly (Ron) Stelljes, Paul (Jeanette) Puschel, several nieces and nephews and countless friends.  Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mendel (Betty) Puschel; sisters, Leonora (Kenneth) Opperman and Vera (Jack) VanLoo.
