Age 86, passed away on Thursday evening, June 24, 2021. Larry was born in South Bend, IN, on September 30, 1934, the son of Ralph Lawrence and Mabel (Hadquist) Smith Sr. On August 18, 1963, he married Audrey Peltz, who preceded him in death in 2020.  Larry liked to keep fit and was an avid walker.  He and Audrey raised their family on Crooked Lake in Texas Township and he loved being on the water.  During his life, he enjoyed golfing, boating, water skiing, and snow skiing. He and Audrey were dancers and they liked doing the polka, the twist and they frequently attended German American club dances. He worked for many years as an insurance adjuster.  In his retirement, he served as assistant to his sons who are both in the construction business. Nothing was more important to him than his family.  Larry is survived by his children, Brad (Carolyn) Kennedy, Tom (Amy) Smitchols and Jodi (Kevin Henry) Haugen; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Breanna Price), Jacob, Samantha and Nick Haugen, Anna Smitchols and Blake (Angela) and Mara Bernard; two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Max Bernard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon.
