In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and the family will schedule a private committal service with full military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan sometime in the near future. Friends and family are encouraged to leave a condolence message.

Age 78, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Richard was born on December 29, 1941 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Charles Eason VanTrease and Beulah Pauline (McCreedy) VanTrease. Following graduation from High School, Richard enlisted in the United States Airforce and served as a Radio Mechanic at Keeler Air Force Base in Mississippi. Following his service to our country, he became a Civil Servant and worked as such for many years. Richard was married to the former JaNeed Marie Tibone, who receded him in death. He is survived by his children Scott VanTrease, Mark VanTrease, Rebecca VanTrease, Randall VanTrease and Jennifer Berney, as well as his brothers and sisters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
