Age 78, passed away on September 11, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born in Kalamazoo on September 1, 1942, the daughter of the late Joe and Jane (Weyenberg) Gruizenga. She remained a lifetime resident and was always proud of her home and community. Rita was kind, gentle and giving. She had a passion for making others feel welcomed and loved and worked hard to provide a happy home for her family. She loved baking and cooking and was always happy to host meals and holidays. She enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. She loved animals, especially her loyal dog “Molly.” She was a woman of faith and attended Spring Valley Wesleyan Church. Above all Rita loved her family and leaves them with many wonderful memories to cherish. On February 6, 1971, she married the love of her life Donald J. Boyer who survives. She is also survived by three loving children, Ronna (James) Bonneau, Marc (Kim) Boyer and Troy (Angel) Boyer; grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley Marie) Williamson, Keri (CJ) Stover, Amanda (Lance) Altvater, Kayle, Hannah and Cameron Boyer, Ashley (Brandon) Byrd, Cassie (Doug) Boyer; great-grandchildren, Leah, Mason, Avery, Harper, Addie, Grayson and Caden; siblings, Janet Jones, John (Kathy) Gruizenga; many nieces, nephews and friends.
