Age 84, went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2020, with family at his side. He was born in Harlan County, KY, on March 8, 1936, the son of the late Arthella and Else (Cheek) Capps. After graduating high school, he served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp until being honorable discharged. Robert loved his family and his greatest joy was having everyone together for football parties and family dinners. He was a hard worker who was employed by General Motors from 1966 till his retirement in 2001. When not working he loved being outdoors and was a passionate salmon fisherman. He loved spending time at his camper in Ludington and could often be found sitting in his truck at the boat dock watching the sunset and Badger come in. He also enjoyed sitting on his camper deck watching the traffic go by. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; a good cup of coffee from McDonald’s, a successful fishing trip and reading his Bible. He wasn’t a man of a lot of words but a simple nod of the head seemed to suffice. He will be missed. On July 11, 1959, he married the love of his life Kay Capps who survives. He is also survived by three loving children, Bob (Shelly) Capps, Ken Capps and Kim (Dave) Williams; five grandchildren, Keith, Ashley, Izaiha, Zoey and Jacob; nieces, nephews, friends and his loyal companion dog “Milo”. He was also preceded in passing by a granddaughter Jessie and a sister, Agnes.
