Age 87, passed away peacefully at Kairos Dwelling on Friday, October 28, 2016. Ron was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 23, 1929, the son of the late Harry and Marjorie (Olson) Thomasma. Upon graduation from high school, Ron attended Calvin College where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in English. After college he was drafted into the U.S. Army for which he served honorably from 1951 to 1953. Ron had a life-time career in the insurance industry. He was a long-time member of West Park Christian Reformed Church in Cleveland; serving on consistory and teaching Sunday school. Most recently Ron was a member of Milwood Community Church. On August 2, 1952 he married the former Beatrice E. Cook, who preceded him in death in 1991. Ron is also preceded in death by brothers, Thomas (Ruth) and Harold Thomasma. He is survived by his wife, Janet Thomasma; children, Timothy (Teresa) and Peter (Terri) Thomasma; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; step-children, Gary and Ron (Dawn) Campbell, Laura (Chuck) Pothoven and David Campbell; five step-grandchildren; brothers, Doug (Marion), John (Kay) and Harry (Jane) Thomasma; sisters in-law, Ellanora and Virginia Thomasma and many nieces and nephews.
