A committal service will take place with full military honors at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 1:30 PM. A time of visitation will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, prior to the committal service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A time of fellowship and a light luncheon will follow the committal service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1332 Branch St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001. In lieu of memorial contributions, it was Ron’s wish that in his memory everyone donate shoes to needy children via your local homeless shelter or other charitable non-profit organization.

Age 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Ron was born in Welchburg, Kentucky on July 27, 1933, the son of the late William B. and Lillie H. (Poynter) Hamilton. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Ron worked as a millwright in the paper mill industry and later owned and operated his own car dealership. He was an accomplished musician and loved animals. Ron was an avid outdoorsman, especially when it came to fishing. He could fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He never met a stranger and had many close friends. Ron was quick-witted, outgoing and lit up any room he was in. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him. Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Londa Hamilton; his son in-law, Rick Cyr; brothers, James, William “Junior”, Wilton and David Hamilton; sister, Wilma Begley; the mother of his children, Helen R. (Hall) Hamilton; and his beloved dog, Charlie. He is survived by his children, L. Elaine Brady, Ronald “Jeff” Hamilton and Linda Hamilton; grandchildren, Emily Sandoval and Lillie Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Elenora and Genevieve Sandoval; brother, Robert Hamilton; sister, Margaret Suhr; many nieces and nephews and of course his mule, Fancy.
