In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 6, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Age 76, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016. He was born on November 30, 1939, in Petoskey, MI, the son of the late James and Eda (Zipp) Copping. Ron was an exceptional student who had a passion for learning. He attended WMU, where he earned two Masters’ Degrees and continued to enroll in classes until his passing. He was an avid reader, was very knowledgeable about the stock market and kept up on current affairs. Ron was a hard worker who was employed at the Kalamazoo County Road Commission for more than 35 years. While there he dedicated himself to the tasks assigned him and took a special interest in bridges and road design. He also loved to collect fossils and other archeological items. Though he had a quiet and humble disposition he loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. On June 20, 1970, he married the love of his life, Mary E. Copping who survives. He is also survived by his only son, Dr. Ryan R. Copping; a brother, Dr. James (Dee) Copping; sister, Norma LaRosa; many nieces, nephews and friends.
