Age 96, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016. He was born in Allegan, MI, on January 11, 1920, the son of the late Joel and Eunice (Ridgley) Smith. Ross was a loving man who had a kind personality. After serving our country with honor during World War II, he returned to Michigan and later purchased his family’s farm. He loved working around the farm raising cattle, welding and blacksmithing. On March 5, 1976, he married Olympia Deloris (Jackson) Smith who preceded him in passing in 1997. He was also preceded in passing by five siblings; Lloyd, Everett, Dale, Clare and Evelyn. Ross was an excellent mechanic; he owned and operated Ross Smith’s Garage for many years. When not working on cars or farm equipment, he enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by a sister, Goldean Tate; three step-children, Daryl (DeLana) Gowens, Michael Gowens and Lisa Gowens; many nieces, nephews and friends.
