Age 81, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama, on March 20, 1935, the son of the late Jesse and Cora (Butler) Griggs. Russell had a great personality and was a joy to be around. He was a hard worker who was employed at WMU for over forty-two years. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course or at the cottage on Fish Lake. He had a strong sense of patriotism and was a member of the Schoolcraft American Legion 475 and the Portage Eagles 3531. Above all Russell loved his family and leaves them with many wonderful memories to cherish. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by three children, Vicki (Tom) Rafferty, Karen (Todd) Casanto and Randy (Marsha) Griggs; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several siblings; many nieces, nephews and friends; his faithful companion dog “Daisy.”
