A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Spring Valley Wesleyan Church, 5240 Mt. Olivet Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49004. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Elks Lodge 48, c/o the funeral home.

Age 85, passed away on April 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by a loving family. She was born in Chattanooga, TN, on November 14, 1938, the daughter of the late William and Nellie (Hayes) Henson. She was raised in Tennessee with her four sisters, graduated high school and on July 6, 1956, married Carroll Lee Fine. For a time, they lived in both Cleveland and Spring City, TN, and for many years made their home in Rockford, IL. Following Carroll’s work, they moved to Comstock, MI, where they settled and raised their family. Carroll would pass away on January 23, 1981. While visiting relatives in Rockford, she met James Conrad Meinzer, and they were united in marriage on August 28, 1984. They lived in the Kalamazoo, MI, area until James’ passing in 1999.  Sandra later moved to Hastings and in 2022, returned to Comstock where she resided with her son, Don. Sandra was a loving and spirited woman who was a joy to know. She worked hard to provide and care for her family and was always willing to help others. She was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge #1965 in Hastings and Lodge #48 in Grand Rapids. Sandra made many friends through the Elks, and she served as District Chaplain, and on the Fundraising Committee for many years. Above all, Sandra loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived! She is survived by five children, Jan (Dennis) Watson, David (Jeanne) Fine, Lynn (Ron) Skelton, Ann (Brian) Miner and Donald Fine; stepchildren, Lorna Gimble, Corrin Shinaberry, James Meinzer Jr.; she was predeceased by stepdaughter, Crystal Anjanos. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandy (Will) Jordan, Ron (Jackie) Skelton, Daniel (Kinverly) Skelton, Jason (Allison) Miner, Justin Miner, Lisa (June) Watson, Jeff (Carrie) Watson, Joshua Fine; nineteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
