Age 78, passed away at home on June 28, 2017. She was born in Lookout, WV, the daughter of the late Edward and Avona (Burdett) Hughes. A love of the mountains and outdoors would remain a part of her forever. Shelda was kind and gentle; she had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help others. This led her to work for many years as a nurse’s aide where she cared for many people who would become family and friends. Shelda loved farm animals, especially horses and was fond of watching the equestrian races. She had a strong faith and was devoted to the Lord. Above all she loved her family. She was a great encourager of her children and grandchildren, seldom missing a sporting event or special occasion. Shelda’s warm smile and loving heart will be missed by all who knew her. On November 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to Francis Korteway who survives. She is also survived by three children, Arthur (Debra) Korteway, James Korteway and Ellen Korteway; grandchildren, Brad Korteway, Andrew (Katelyn) Korteway, Amanda, Breanne and Garrett Korteway, Zachary Korteway, David, Charles and Samantha Moon, James Lesinski; a great-grandchild, Kristlin Korteway; a brother, David Hughes; nieces, nephews and friends. She was also preceded in passing by daughter, Dawn M. Lesinski; many siblings.
