A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Noon at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Sonja will be interred at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN.

Sonja M. Carlo age 87 of Kalamazoo passed away passed away Monday afternoon, May 11, 2026. Sonja was born in Dexter, MI, on January 22, 1939, the daughter of Arthur and Edith Erickson. After raising her family, Sonja returned to college to get her nursing degree and then worked for many years as a Registered Nurse. She also enjoyed writing and had self-published a couple books. She also was an artist. She loved dogs. Above all, she will be remembered as being a wonderful, loving mother. Sonja is survived by son, Anthony (Melissa) Strozewski; daughter, Ann (Wayne) Routh-Burke; twenty-two grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Sonja was preceded in death by her daughters, Linda Strozewski, Kim Strozewski; son Arthur Strowzewski; sister, Ardis Walker.
