A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church, 9316 Oakland Dr., Portage, MI 49024, with Pastor Bill Fernhout officiating. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Visiting hours will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Friday, March 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Tree of Life School or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.

Age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 6, 2020. Sterry was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on November 15, 1938, the son of the late Garrett and Mary (Werkema) Vander Meer. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School and spent the majority of his career as a drafting coordinator at Walker Parking Consultants. Sterry was an avid photographer and master gardener. He also enjoyed camping and his many trips to Mackinaw. On May 10, 1958, Sterry was united in marriage to Lois Ann Steeby, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Mary (Larry) Stillman, Thomas (Margie Markus) Vander Meer and Laura (Eric) Locker; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sterry was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Vander Meer, Florence (Owen) Van Kalker, Theodore (Dee) Vander Meer and Eleanor Vander Meer.
