SINGER, Susan M.
Kalamazoo
Susan “Sue” Marie Singer was an incredible mother and grandmother. She passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2022, at the age of 64.

She was born to Gordon and Thelma Singer on July 10, 1958, in Lansing, Michigan and spent her entire life in Michigan. Sue was raised by her parents in Mason and lived most of her adult life and raised her family in St. Johns before moving to Kalamazoo at the end of 2021. Sue was a devoted “soccer Mom” to her children, enjoyed trips with each of them through Michigan, the East coast, and even to Australia. She was known to many for her kind and generous heart, famous for her ability to craft amazing Halloween costumes, and always enjoyed a cup of coffee and a chat. She loved cooking, especially pastries, desserts and Christmas plates, spending time with her family, and perhaps most of all: her grandchildren. Up until her death she was still watching her newest grandson, Gus, in adoring fashion. Sue took pride in dedicating 40 years in the operating room as a surgical technician and cherishing relationships with surgeons, nurses, and patients throughout Michigan.

She is survived by her daughter, Allyn (James) Witchell and her sons, Eli (Kadi), Max (Ashleigh) and Wesley Prout, and her grandchildren, Jackson, Elizabeth, Gordon, Edie, Arlo, Ava and Gus. Sue is also survived by her sisters, Diane (Roger) Lincoln and Terri Singer, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial gathering to celebrate her life will take place on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Burdick St. in Kalamazoo with a luncheon to follow at Buddy’s Pizza, 5314 S. Westnedge Ave., Portage. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Sue’s name to Eagle Village (eaglevillage.org/donate), an organization supporting children in foster care where Ally worked for many years and all of Sue’s children attended leadership camps growing up.
