NEWINGTON, Tina M.
Kalamazoo
Age 43, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Tina was born in Kalamazoo on May 12, 1979, to Sarah VerMeulen and Steve Perkins. Tina was a hardworking and loving mother who cherished the moments spent with her children above anything else. Her children were her entirety. She enjoyed gardening, being active outside, and loved the sun. If you couldn’t find her, surely all you had to do was put on some good music, layout some baby oil, and a towel in the sun; she’d appear within seconds. Tina had a deep passion for black bears, sea turtles and hummingbirds. She loved to put out feeders and watch “her” hummingbirds as they would visit. And yes, they were “hers.” She found great joy in the simplicity of things. Tina had a bright and energetic personality and will be remembered for her spunk that shined so bright, her laugh for how contagious it was, and for the love and joy she brought to so many. She is survived by her children, Savannah, Paul and Trevor Spaven; siblings, Melissa Botchway, Brian, Mike, Vanessa, and Steven Perkins; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Tina was preceded in death by her grandparents and brother, Kevin Perkins. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Northbridge Church, 8824 Douglas Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with Pastor Ray Brandon officiating.
