Doc and I were Standardized Patients for WMU's med school. Although I knew him only slightly, I remember a lengthy conversation we had when we were working at the same event. We were discussing the dangers of smoking, and Doc told me that the electronic cigarettes that some people use when they are trying to quit smoking can actually be worse than conventional cigarettes! Apparently, people inhale more deeply to get the same effect from electronic cigarettes. During that conversation, I learned just a little about Doc's background, and I was looking forward to getting to know him better. I send my sympathy to Doc's family. I hope the fond memories you have of him and the love and support of his many friends and colleagues comfort you in your grief.

Doc was an amazing person who cared for so many persons and changed the lives of people wherever he went. We were blessed to have him volunteer at Bronson and participate in many meaningful ways on our Bronson Patient & Family Advisory Council. My sincere condolences to his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed by our healthcare community.
