Age 92, left her earthly home and went to her eternal home on Saturday night, April 29, 2023, after a brief illness. Vergia Lee was born in Bloomfield, MO, on July 10, 1930, the daughter of S.E. and Edna (Clodfelter) Gillespie. She was a long-time member of Winchell Avenue Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church and more recently was a member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church. She loved to bake for others and showed her compassion in everything she did. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Vergia Lee loved her family deeply and especially loved being with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vergia Lee is survived by her loving husband, Russell H. Tiller, Sr.; they would have celebrated 75 years of marriage in December. Also surviving are her son, Russell (Sara) Tiller Jr. of Richland; daughters, Vicki (Donald) Crosse of Des Moines, IA, and Debra (Tim) Bickings of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Eric (Amber) Tiller, Keith Tiller, Melissa Crosse, Nicholas (Kelsey) Crosse, Brent (Kayla) Bickings, Michael Crosse, Kevin (Madeline) Bickings, Megan (Andrew) Weinberg; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Bonnie Gillespie, Walter Gillespie, and Donald Gillespie; sister, Clara Gillespie; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Vergia Lee was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; brothers, Blair and P.D.; sisters, Geneva, Aileen, and Gussie.
