Age 67, passed away at home on May 7, 2020. He was born in Natick, MA, on August 24, 1952, the son of the late Vilnis O. and Lidija S. Berzins. Vin was a thoughtful and generous man who was intriguing to know. He was intelligent and inquisitive with the ability to fix anything and converse about any topic. He was passionate about cars and motorcycles, from working on automobiles and ‘bikes’ in his younger days to collecting motorcycles during his mature years. He loved music, and could play the electric bass and acoustic guitar. Vin was an avid reader and gifted in being tech savvy and a great number cruncher.
He held a BA in Psychology and an MBA in Finance, both degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He worked hard and founded Aronas Consulting and Lidmar Consulting, having such clients as Monsanto, Renessen LLC (a joint venture between Monsanto and Cargill), and Culligan. Previous to forming his own consulting practices, he worked at Homart Development (a subsidiary of Sears), as well as Bell & Howell.
Vin was kindhearted with his time. He volunteered on the Boards of the Garezers Latvian Center and Latvian School of Chicago. He was of Christian faith, and a member of the Zion Latvian Lutheran Church of Chicago and previously the Latvian Lutheran Church of Boston. He was also a member of the Fraternity Latvia. Vin’s sense of humor, generosity and kindness will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his loving daughters, Andra and Amanda Berzins; and many close friends.
