Services will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 12:00 PM at her church, Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49006, with Rev. Dr. Wayne Price officiating. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park – South. Visitation will be held at Joldersma and Klein Funeral Home on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.

Age 101, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 15, 2018. Virginia was born in Rochester, New York, the daughter of the late, Clark and Maizie Dye. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo College, where her grandfather, Arthur G. Slocum was president of the College. On August 11, 1946 she married Reuben William Martin who preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded by her brothers, Clark J. Dye Jr. and Calvert S. Dye; her sister, Valerie M. Dye; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth A. Dye and Dorothy Dye and nephew, Sherman Dye. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. (David) Wilson and Phyllis A. (David) Zimmerman; three grandchildren, Christopher (Ariel Bleicher) Wilson, and Anne and Emily Zimmerman; niece, Kathy Bond and nephew, Curtis Dye. Virginia loved her family dearly and was an enduring source of love, happiness, and inspiration. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Friendship Village for their loving care and friendship, Virginia called them her guardian angels. The family also wishes to extend a very special appreciation to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and hospice nurse, Anne, for her love and comforting care.
