Age 99, passed away on Friday afternoon, March 29, 2024. Walter was born in Paw Paw, on March 26, 1925, the son of Walter G. and Marvel (O’Neall) Johnson. On June 30, 1950, he married Dilys M. Church who preceded him in death in 1999. Walter worked for 40 years at James River Paper Company as a welder. He proudly served his nation in the United States Army. Walter is survived by his sons, Michael (Laurie) Johnson of Kalamazoo and James (Kimberly) Johnson of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Amie (Chris), Nathan (Kelly), Erik and Jeffrey (Kim); great-grandchildren, Jack, Oliver, Isaac, Emilee, Sawyer, Elsie, Tucker, Lucy, Daxton and Lydia; sisters, Kathleen Frie, and Esther Boyd; several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; and two sisters.
