In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and a gathering to celebrate Bill’s life will be held later on. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bronson Hospital’s Hospital Hospitality House located at 828 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan, c/o the funeral home. Friends and family are encouraged to leave a condolence message.

Age 89, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019. He was born on August 26, 1930 in Germany to Alois “Louis” and Sophie Forster. Bill grew up on his parent’s farm in Germany. As a young adult he did some schooling and worked in various places in Germany and Switzerland. In 1959 he immigrated to the United States. He worked in industrial plants and owned a small apartment building that he managed in Chicago. He later married and moved to El Paso, Texas. He was a dedicated and hard-working employee at Border Steel as a large machine mechanic and maintenance engineer until his retirement. He moved to Kalamazoo in 2007 to be closer to his daughter Sofia and grandchildren. Bill enjoyed telling stories of his life and work adventures. He also enjoyed joking about anything he found humor in. He had a great love of pets and would talk to any pet that would listen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Josef Forster. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Sofia and Tim Darling of Kalamazoo, Louis Forster of New Orleans, Louisiana; and his beloved grandchildren, Aimee Estrada, Marco Estrada, Isabella Estrada, Megan Forster and Patrick Darling, as well as his siblings, Anton Forster, Karoline Forster and Konrad Forster, who live in Germany.
