Richard Hertsel officiating. A visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service.

Age 83, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2016, with his family by his side. Bill was born in Comstock on September 3, 1933, the son of the late Atchison and Helen Kirk. Bill was a kind and loving man who had a great personality and strong character. After graduating from Mattawan High School, Class of 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served our country with honor until being discharged in 1954. After his service, he returned and made Kalamazoo his home. Bill was a police officer with the City of Kalamazoo for over 23 years. When not working, he loved fishing and always had a great fisherman’s tale to tell. He had a strong faith and was a member of Centre Avenue Church of God for over nine years. He also enjoyed traveling and toured the country in the family Fifth Wheel. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching the Lions, Tigers and Cubs. Above all Bill loved his family and his friends. He leaves them with many wonderful memories to cherish. His warm smile and loving nature will be missed by all who knew him. On October 9, 1954, he married the love of his life Nancy (Mastenbrook) Kirk who survives. He is also survived by two children, Steve (Jane) Kirk and Kelly Kirk; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a brother, Ralph Kirk.
