A private family service is being planned. Bill will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Paralyzed American Veterans, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 94, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Bill was born in Galesburg, MI on September 30, 1927, the son of John and Flossie May (Gravatt) James. Bill proudly served his nation in the United States Air Force. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. He was a passionate train enthusiast. He also was a fisherman and enjoyed being out on the water. He had a huge collection of antique cameras, bottles, tools and kitchen utensils. Bill is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Robert) Ballett of Kalamazoo, Kathleen, and Cynthia; several grandchildren including John Ballett and William Ballett; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger James; and all six of his siblings.
