HOLMES, Willie R. “Bill”
Paw Paw
Age 84, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, surround by his wife and children. Bill was born in Blue Mountain, Arkansas, on December 1, 1938, the son of the late Henry and Nora (Bolden) Holmes. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and held a life-time career in the mobile home and RV manufacturing trade. Bill could usually be found on the golf course, at the bowling alley, at his grandchildren’s sporting events or in the rocking chair right next to Margo’s. He also spent many years coaching baseball and softball. He helped organize and host the Holmes Family Reunion for many years. You could talk to him about any place in the country and he seemed to know right where it was, as he traveled for work delivering motor homes for years towards the end of his retirement. Bill was stubborn and stern but went out of his way to ensure any child that was less fortunate had every opportunity to succeed in life. On May 14, 1966, he married the former Margaret L. Morgart, who survives and they spent 57 years together. He is also survived by his children, Jeffry (LouAnn) Holmes, Randall (Brenda) Holmes and Tricia (Marc) Pasek; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jonathan) Smalley, Cory (Casey) Holmes, Ashley Holmes, Brandon (Diane) Holmes, Hailey Holmes, Tyler Pasek and Courtney Pasek; nine great-grandchildren, special “adopted” grandson, Ashton Dean; brother, Gene (Linda) Holmes; sister, Loretta (Wayne) Wenner and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Don and James Holmes and sisters, Henrietta Powell and infant, Pearl Holmes. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation will take place and no service is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
