A service in witness to Barbara’s life and faith will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Anyone who desires to leave a memorial tribute can do so at either Centrica Care Navigators - Southwest Michigan Hospice, Bronson Hospital - Advanced Illness Management, Fiddlehead Music Therapy, or the Heritage Community Foundation of Kalamazoo Michigan. These organizations and their staff were extraordinary in the provision of care to Barbara and her family throughout her final journey.

With loving care and support from family and friends, at age 86 Barbara Jean Hilton passed away on March 18, 2023. On September 5th, 1936 Barbara was born in Fawn River Township, Michigan, to Carlton Arthur and Velma LaMoine (Langwell) Weeden. In 1954 Barbara graduated from Coldwater High School, and on September 16th 1956 married her love, Robert Bruce Hilton. They shared a deeply devoted and loving marriage for 64 years until Robert’s passing in April of 2021. Barbara worked at Parker Hydraulic Systems Division located in Kalamazoo as an Administrative Assistant for 21 years, retired in December of 2003, and returned three times under temporary assignments. She previously worked as a Bookkeeper at Kalamazoo Blueprint and Supplies for 8 years. The family finds comfort in sharing memories of Barbara’s commitment to, pride of, and love for her family, friends, and the home she made. There are numerous stories revealing her strength, endless love, and capacity to care for everyone who was so fortunate to know her. Much love and fun was shared during countless gatherings for celebrations, reunions, holidays, church events, and vacations always shared with family and friends. She cherished her family, was grateful for her associates/friends, active within the Parchment community, and was a member of the Parchment United Methodist Church for many years. She was a true caregiver, relentlessly devoted to those who knew her, and an advocate for those in need. She volunteered at Borgess Hospital in the gift shop, and also provided her time as a patient sitter within the “No one dies alone” program. Barbara was preceded in death by husband, Robert Bruce Hilton, son Terry Lee Hilton, and parents Thelma and Carlton Weeden. She leaves a sister – Donna Hurley-Willison, children, son – Robert Willard (Corajean) Hilton, daughter – Paulette Hilton (Wilbur Klosterman III), beloved grandchildren – Jaclyn (Aaron) White, Jesse (Ashley) Hilton, Jessica (Marshall) Ogan, Robert Fredericks, great-grandchildren – RoMar, Cora, Lauryn, Natalie, Justin, Sydney, Maddox, Finley, and Arwyn, sister-in-laws – Elizabeth Wagner, and Linda (John) Finch, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
