A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake Doster Clubhouse, 116 Country Club Blvd., Plainwell, MI 49080 on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Humane Society, Bronson Cancer Center, Centrica Care Navigators or Misty Moor Foundation, in c/o the funeral home.

Carl Edward Buck age 83 of Plainwell passed away Sunday morning, April 26, 2026. Carl was born in Allegan on June 6, 1942, the son of Orrin and Mildred Marie (Peterson) Buck. On July 7, 2000, he married Pamela Sue Horne who survives him. Carl was a graduate of W.K. Kellogg Schools, Class of 1961, where he was co-captain of the football team and ran track. He received his varsity letter as a Freshman. He went to barber college in 1962 and became a well-known local barber. He owned Carl’s Barber Shop in Parchment for sixty-one years. He was a very well-liked and caring man who was outgoing and knew everyone’s name. He had received membership in the Parchment Hall of Fame and had been Grand Marshall at SummerFest. He had a great sense of humor and always left people with a smile on their face. He enjoyed telling a good joke. He and Pam enjoyed going on cruises. They had been on twenty-six cruises including Alaska and Hawaii. He was the best and most knowledgeable fisherman on Lake Michigan and was a South Haven Steelheader. He had won the two-day tournament on his boat “Movin’ On.” He loved racing, go-karts, motorcycles/flat track, stock car, drag racing and horses. He had been the owner of twelve racehorses. Besides his wife, Carl is survived by niece, Amy (Buck) Dale, Jacob and Hannah Thiessen; and many friends including, Gary Metheny, Joyce Lew, Bob Braley, Roger Rantz, Tim Reineck, and Terry and Rhonda Thomas. Carl was preceded in death by brother, Ron Buck.
