Cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Memorial contributions may be made to Loaves and Fishes of Kalamazoo, c/o the funeral home.

Age 69, passed away at home on Sunday, June 24, 2018 with family by his side. Earl was born in Kalamazoo on December 6, 1948, the son of the late Ervin and Mildred (Kurth) Cosby. He joined the U.S. Army at age 17 and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After returning from military service, Earl met his future wife, Susan E. Spears and they were married on July 28, 1972. In addition to his wife, Susan, Earl is survived by his children, Brian (Deb Breese) Cosby, Kevin (Amanda Amm) Cosby, Cindy (Matthew) Roon and Karen (Jason Abram) Cosby; grandchildren, Jordan Cosby, Maggie and Carter Cosby, Hannah and Lillian Roon and Emmalee, Sarah and Caleb Bish; daughter-in-law, Heather Cosby; siblings, Phyllis (Jack) Jakway and Robert (Christine) Cosby and many nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his siblings, Harleen Pio, Charles Cosby, Sandra Axe, Betty Lou Cosby, Jimmy Cosby and Terry Cosby.
