Gary So sorry to hear that your Dad had passed. It was great reconnecting with him after all these years. Hearing his laugh always made me smile. Mike

Came on the site to leave a memory of a family friend that just passed away and found this. Mr. Ewert and his wife took me to see Elvis Presly in Kalamazoo at Wings stadium in 1977 and at the end of the show Mrs. Ewert told me to march right up there to the stage and try to shake Elvis' hand (we had second row seats because Mrs. Ewert went to wings about a week before tickets went on sale and camped out ,the good old days). So I went to the stage and held out my hand and closed my eyes and was saying "please shake my hand" and when I opened my eyes there's Elvis with his "Elvis smile" (you know the one ,like he said "I did 31 pictures that way") and he shook my hand. As Mr. Ewert put it "I came unglued" ,which was somewhat of an undersatement. Hard to believe over 44 years has gone by since then but that memory for me is clear as yesterday. Not too many people can honestly say they shook hands with Elvis, but I did and I owe it all to Mr. and Mrs. Ewert. My condolences go out to all his family and friends. Jamie Simpson
