Jerald Lee Jarsma, age 57, passed away at home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Jerald was born in Kalamazoo on February 18, 1963, the son of Jerald Jay and Carolyn (Gilman) Jarsma. He graduated from Parchment High School in 1981 where he played football, wrestled and was on the 1980 state runner up baseball team. After graduating from Davenport College in 1985, with an associate in accounting, he worked for many years in the grocery industry at Meijer, D&W, Family Foods and the Butternut Outlet store. When not working, Jerald liked to travel and especially enjoyed visiting the waterfalls of northern Michigan. He had a strong faith in the Lord and most recently attended Gull Lake United Methodist Church. He enjoyed stamp and card collecting. Jerald loved sports, especially baseball, and was an active participant in fantasy baseball and football leagues. He was a generous and loyal son, brother and friend. Jerald is survived by his mother, Carolyn Jarsma; two siblings, Brian (Cynthia) Jarsma and Melissa (Dan) Housler; niece and nephews, Danielle Laylon, Andrew Laylon, Nicklas Jarsma and Truman Jarsma; and many dear friends. He was preceded in passing by his father, Jerald Jay Jarsma; his sister, Deborah Jarsma and nephew, Dylan Jarsma.
