Dear Janet and Family, We wish you peace as you learn to navigate without the lanky, loyal, loving smile of Dick. The empty spot in the pew leaves a hole in our hearts too. Dick will always be missed for his kindness and humor 💕

To the Saddler family, I had the good fortune of knowing Dick for 35 years as a friend and client. It was hard not to love Dick given his laid back approach to life and genuine gentle nature. He was always happy, had a smile on his face and a nice word to share along with a cute story you may have heard more than once! In my opinion (Marilyn Monroe sat on the back seat of his convertible Nash in case you hadn't heard that one). Dick went through life with little stress managing what he wanted and passing along the rest to those whom he trusted. Terrific way to live if you ask me and I was always impressed by this approach as well as the outcome which as a friend was easily witnessed. Given the level of anxiety people live with today; self imposed or otherwise I think there is a lesson to be learned here. In short, may we all be a bit more like Dick in terms of our approach to enjoying the world around us. We shared a common passion; antique cars and in particular ones that were using Dick's spelling and verbiage UNEEK! I have many fond memories of shows, meets and even a car we worked on together to get back on the road. He was always willing to answer or question or offer a hand to anyone who enjoyed vehicles or as he said on more than one occasion "machines". Dick gave back so much to his life long passion and hobby through service on boards and volunteerism at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum as well as the Gilmore to name a couple along with the KAAR club he helped found many decades ago. So many organizations were benefactors of his wisdom, passion and desire to contribute and all are better for his involvement. May all of us who know this special man hold near precious memories of your time together with Dick. For most individuals the correct send off would be rest in peace. In Dick's case, the more appropriate comment in my opinion would be happy motoring! Something he did so well for many, many decades

Dear Janet and family, We fondly remember Dick as a smiling, witty, and welcoming member of the classic car community and the First Presbyterian community. It was always a joy to see both of you at the many car gatherings, for both a pleasant "catch up" and usually some laughter too. Both of you would always "keep on the sunny side." Dick freely offered his many gifts of know-how, humor, and optimism to his community, his big heart will be missed. Take good care of each other as your moves forward together after Dick's passing, Dick's legacy will certainly continue in our community. Blessings to you and your family. Robin & Nancy Nott

Dick was a wonderful guy with a great dry sense of humor. Marilyn Monroe and his rabbit were his favorite conversation topics. He would frequently inject "Smile like you drive a Nash" as helpful advice. He contributed extensive time and effort to both the Gilmore Car Museum and the Kalamazoo Antique Auto Restorers Club. Dick will be seriously missed by many.

Dear Janet and family, I have numerous memories of Dick and Janet from dating, their marriage and the little trailer they decorated and moved to Lansing while Dick Finished his education at Michigan State University. As time marched forward the classic cars were so much fun for them. I remember them riding in parades in one of the automobiles. You all have my deepest sympathies. Dick was special to everyone. Your cousin, Judy
