May 22, 1956 - August 1, 2019

A service to commemorate Rick’s life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St, Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Human Rights Campaign or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

I am very sorry to hear about Rick. I worked with Rick for almost 10 years at TPI/A.M. Castle. He couldn't have been a nicer guy. He was so dedicated to his job but more importantly dedicated to his friends and family. He always talked about his family which meant the world to him. I truly appreciate the times that he and I spent together. I'll remember how his laugh was so contagious. Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Rick. Brenda, his wife, was an office manager at Hope College in the Education Department. That is how I came to meet Rick. They were a devoted couple and Brenda was an outstanding member of the Education Department. Her passing was devastating and now Rick. My sympathies to the children of Rick and Brenda. May God grant you comfort and strength during this difficult time. Susan Cherup
