Shirley I. Everett was taken from us all far too soon on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. The impact she made on those around her is truly immeasurable. Whether on the campus of Western Michigan University, with the students at Comstock Public Schools, or on the ball fields of Eastwood Little League, she had a knack for connecting with people. Her smile, laughter, and sense of humor were unlike any other. Plus, you never knew if you’d find her with power tools or a paintbrush in hand, as she was always making the world around her a better, more beautiful place. If you spent time with Shirley, you’ve heard her say “life is about experiences” and “go create a memory,” words she truly lived by. For years, she loved getting away with her high school crew; Jane, Sandi, and Debbie and creating memories at her favorite place: the beach. Before losing her husband of over 38 years, Pat and Shirley enjoyed DIY projects and summers in South Haven or by the pool. In recent years, she and her partner Rich loved relaxing on the Florida coast while mixing in exhilarating trips to the casino. Above all of her accomplishments, she claimed her greatest was being the proud mother of her two sons, Mason and Steven. Along with Mason, Steven, and Rich, she is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Patricia Mason; nephew Robert (Tina) Mason; niece Danielle (Trent) Mason-Anderson; their children Zoe, Cole, Parker, and Miles; and hundreds of family members and friends around the country. She is preceded in death by her husband Patrick.
