A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Foundation of Michigan or to the charity of one’s choice, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 94, of Kalamazoo, passed away Thursday morning, July 11, 2024. Shirley was born in Detroit, on September 10, 1929, the daughter of John Herbert and Beatrice Elva (Shaddock) Hildebrand. On September 2, 1950, she married Allan R. Heavey who survives her. Besides her husband, Shirley is survived by her children, Allan R. “Rick” Heavey, Jr., John D. Heavey, Lois Louden, Pamela (Douglas) Phillips; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several other blended family children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and countless honorary children and grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nancy L. (Wink) Connell; sister, Judygaye Hildebrand.
