A visitation to honor Sonia’s life will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A separate celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the eulogy beginning at 1 p.m. The celebration of life will be held at the Kalamazoo Nature Center, located at 7000 North Westnedge, Kalamazoo, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Autism Society, c/o the funeral home.

Age 64, passed away on Thursday morning, October 24, 2019 with her family by her side. Sonia was born in Beirut, Lebanon on November 29, 1954, the daughter of Joseph and Victoria (Gedeon) Gedeon. Sonia moved to the United States with her family in 1968, and proudly became a United States citizen in 1974. Sonia was well known for her love of gardening. She made a career as a Master Gardener for many years. Many that knew her will remember Sonia for her gift of making the world a more beautiful place. She was a woman that loved to make sure her family was well fed and made sure nobody went hungry as long as Sonia could cook up some of her delicious Lebanese food. Her love of children was amazing. Sonia loved everyone’s kids and many called her “Mom”. Sonia was a very kind, loving soul. Sonia met and married the love of her life, Joseph “Joe” E. Voss. They were married on April 23, 1977 in Lansing, Michigan and most recently celebrated 42 years of marriage. Sonia was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, sister Suzanne Gedeon and brother, Gedeon “Joe” Gedeon. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Joe and their children: Joseph Voss, Christopher (Jennifer) Voss, all of Portage, Michigan, and Tara (Ryan) Slone of Vicksburg, Michigan. Known to her beloved grandchildren as “Tata”, she will be dearly missed by Owen and Alexander Voss of Portage, Michigan; Peyton and Alyssa Slone of Vicksburg, Michigan, as well as her sisters, Somaya (Mike) Siminski, Nina (Steve) Jones and Violet (Rick) Anderson, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
